Quick Insights: Decoding Notion Growth Strategy
Been using Notion for the past 1.5 years.
From Personal resumes to internal documentation to building websites...I almost organized my life on Notion.
So, I was curious about its Growth strategy.
Here's my short analysis based on research 👇
1. Flexibility & Customization
Notion uses the knowledge shared by users & moulds its tool specific to their needs.
Users can create their own building blocks and search from their pre-done templates.
Even the initial version of Hello Learn (Our previous app) was built on notion :)
2. Free for Personal use -> Team
My ex-company was using the Notion pro version.
It happened because I became an avid user of the notion personal version.
First, I Used it for different personal use-cases such as Product pages, Goals tracking and curation
& Then unlocked collaboration & more valuable use-cases using its pro version.
3. Hacking word of mouth marketing
If you have noticed closely, a lot of many users raved about their experience with the notion. (Like I'm doing) While others shared the pre-built templates for various use-cases.
Moreover, Some users built products for Notion & Launched them on platforms like Product Hunt.
4. Leveraged Ambassadors
Notion team arranges events and AMAs with Product ambassadors (& Product advocates).
These ambassadors were given early access to new feature launches, for feedback.
In its early days, Notion targeted startups with less than 100 employees with free credits for its work collaboration subscription.
Recently, It launched a new program to offer a credit of at least $500 to any startup globally to try its product.
That's all. Thanks for reading!
